Counting Extensional Diierences in Bc-learning
نویسنده
چکیده
Let BC be the model of behaviourally correct function learning as introduced by BB arzdins 4] and Case and Smith 8]. We introduce a mind change hierarchy for BC, counting the number of extensional differences in the hypotheses of a learner. We compare the resulting models BCn to models from the literature and discuss conndence, team learning , and nitely defective hypotheses. Among other things, we prove that there is a tradeoo between the number of semantic mind changes and the number of anomalies in the hypotheses. We also discuss consequences for language learning. In particular we show that, in contrast to the case of function learning, the family of classes that are conndently BC-learnable from text is not closed under nite unions.

متن کاملFast and Eecient Reinforcement Learning with Truncated Temporal Diierences
The problem of temporal credit assignment in reinforcement learning is typically solved using algorithms based on the methods of temporal diierences TD(). Of those, Q-learning is currently best understood and most widely used. Using TD-based algorithms with > 0 often allows one to speed up the propagation of credit signiicantly, but it involves certain implementational problems. The traditional...
متن کاملA Quantiication of Distance-bias between Evaluation Metrics in Classiication
This paper provides a characterization of bias for evaluation metrics in classiication (e.g., Information Gain, Gini, 2 , etc.). Our characterization provides a uniform representation for all traditional evaluation metrics. Such representation leads naturally to a measure for the distance between the bias of two evaluation metrics. We give a practical value to our measure by observing if the di...
متن کاملPost-Triassic normal faulting and extensional structures in Central Alborz, Northern Iran
This paper presents structural evidence of extensional activity in Central Alborz during Mesozoic. The structural evidence of homogenous early stage stretching such as layer-parallel to oblique boudinage of Permian and Triassic rocks in various portions of the study area accompanied by extensional-fibrous fractures were followed with more advanced extensional features. These extensional structu...
متن کاملComment on "Fast and accurate modeling of molecular atomization energies with machine learning".
In a recent Letter [1], the authors construct a machine learning (ML) model of molecular atomization energies, which they compare to bond counting (BC) and the PM6 semiempirical method [2]. However, their ML model was trained and tested on density functional theory (DFT) energies while BC and PM6 are fit to standard enthalpies. For fair comparison, bond energies are refit to DFT data and PM6 is...
